This elegant weather station assembles old and new technologies to interpret weather. The water barometer, or storm glass, is a type used since the 17th century to demonstrate variations in atmospheric pressure quickly and reliably. A low water level in the spout indicates high pressure and fair weather. The water rises in the spout indicating severe weather as pressure falls. The thermometer / hygrometer measures temperature and humidity. When the needles cross in the darkened center area, you are in the comfort zone. The storm glass and German hygro-therm are mounted on a clear-finished solid oak stand.
